He uses red clay from Kochi Prefecture, which contains a lot of iron, in his creations.

The chemical reaction between the red clay and the metal in the glaze creates a unique and powerful piece of expression. He digs the soil by himself, spends about a month cultivating the soil. After that he can make pottery, creates his work, and then fires it three or four times to complete.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1985.
He creates pottery in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture.

After studying under Ryoji Koie, in 2014 he began studying under his father, ceramic artist Teppei Ono. After going independent, he began mining clay in the mountains, burning wood and making ash glazes to create his own works. He studies the natural chemical reactions between clay and glazes, and strives to create works with his own unique expression. This is why his works have a deep beauty and strength that is unlike any other.
