ARTIST STORY
Ricca Okano makes pottery at her atelier in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.
Her works are characterized by the beautiful contrast between her gentle pale colors and the eye-catching vivid colors. Her works have parts that are blue and smooth, like glass, and parts that are multicolored and uneven. This is to express two sides of the same coin in one work.
Because she did not want to be influenced by other potters, she and taught herself pottery and art. At the age of 22, she felt various things while traveling and decided toshe never took on an apprenticeship become a potter.

1985 Graduate from Kyoritsu Women's Junior College
1990 Graduate from Tajimi Technical High School Advanced Ceramics Course Award, Art Fair, etc.
