MAKOTO KAKIZAKI

ARTIST STORY

He creates glass works at the Kakizaki Glass Studio in Takamatsu City, Kagawa
Prefecture, which is rich in nature. He majored in resin at university and has always loved skeleton objects, so he started making glass and became a glass artist.

Sophisticated Beauty

He creates glass works using a technique called free-blowing, in which glass is inflated in the air without using a mold.
Even though he does not use molds, he continues to experiment with difficult works that feature straight, beautiful, carefully selected lines and clear corners.

The clear and dignified works created from the soft forms of molten glass are truly beautiful.
He always creates works with as clean lines as possible without adding unnecessary lines.

What is important when creating his works is the beauty of their form, and he values the creation of works that have the beauty of objects, even if they are glass-tableware that are used in everyday life. His works are created from high-temperature, transparent liquid, and each piece of his works is truly beautiful and captivating, with beautiful lines created by hand one by one.
