Teppei Ono Exhibition 小野哲平展 was held at ennen. in Shanghai.
During the exhibition, Ono Teppei-san and Hayakawa Yumi-san were present at ennen. for the first two days. Many people came to visit us every day and everyone enjoyed watching them choose his works and talking with Ono Teppei-san and Hayakawa Yumi-san.
On the second day of the the Exhibition, we and Ono Teppei-san and Hayakawa Yumi-san held a Special lunch party with Ono family's wood-fired kiln bento(Lunch box).
It was a very valuable event where everyone could enjoy the bento that Teppei san and his students eat together when they fire the wood-fired kiln to fire their works. Teppei-san and Yumi-san made a delicious and healthy lunch using rice grown in Kochi, including pickled plum rice balls, fried ball made with soy meat, spinach with mached tofu salad(we call shiraae), and burdock root mixed with sesame and vinegar. Everything was very delicious and healthy for our body.
At the special lunch party, I had time to interact with Teppei-san, Yumi-san and everyone else. We had a lot of great conversations. Everyone were able to talk about many things, such as everyone's feelings for Teppei-san and Yumi-san, and Teppei-san and Yumi-san's thoughts on China and Chinese people, and it was a very meaningful exchange meeting.
Teppei-san said that he hope his works can become reliable things for those who see and touch them, affirming themselves and believing that they are fine in their own way.
The pottery that Teppei-san creates is strong, gentle, delicate, and bold.
It has a gentleness that touches various emotions in those of us who hold his pottery. We would believe that the gentleness hidden behind the strength is what gives it its warmth.
We are also planning to hold an Teppei Ono exhibition in the winter of 2026.
