-TORU KIKUCHI Solo Exhibition 菊地亨展-
2025.MAY.10(sat) 18(sun)
Open: 13:00- 19:00

Toru Kikuchi creates pottery in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, a city rich in nature and known as a pottery town. His works are attractive for their free expression, which is not bound by stereotypes. No two pieces are the same, and he values chance when creating his works. His works always have a playful and unique form that touches my heart.

His works have a variety of expressions with using a variety of techniques. He says that when he creates his works, he doesn't decide on any form. He creates his works by intentionally leaving ambiguous interest and blank spaces. Because who pick up his works can use them with free ideas, such as sometimes in a vase, sometimes in a teacup, something like that.

He does not create the same thing and gives form to the sensations that arise at that moment through dialogue with the soil. Even though they are all the same cup, each one has a different shape and expression. He continues to create one and only pieces that are never the same. So If there's a piece you're interested in, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

He wants many people to have a fun time choosing and touching pieces with different expressions. He creates pottery with these thoughts in his mind. We hope you enjoy Toru Kikuchi' s unique and one and only work.
